I have also been using this method for several years and am very happy with how easy it is to do and the benefits it can bring. I use two checking accounts as the article suggests and separate my fixed from my variable expenses. I have also alloca...

I read this in Money Magazine June 2009 issue. I want to try this. At first glance I thought: this might be a lot of work, but I think I need a system that is going to be a lot of work, this way I will actually keep up with it. Need to check on ...

Almost There

I set a Goal in December 2008 to save 3,000 by end of June 2009. So far I have 645.28 to go. I am fairly confident I will be able to still meet my goal end of June. I could have already reached this goal in late April early May but I went on vacation in both of those months and needed to spend some money to have a little fun. Well worth it.

Flight + Wedding = My Money

My father sent a text to say that the wedding has been moved from July 4 to April 18. I read it and thought, well that sucks and I won't be going. He called the next day because I did not respond to the text and wanted to know if I could make it. I said financially it is not something I see happening (I have a bad habit of dancing around questions.) He said if I needed help to let him know because he and new wifey are in the position to do so. Here is my problem with that; my father has NEVER he… Continue

This quote is from Chapter 5- Action Plan: Savings of Suze Orman's book Action Plan. I downloaded the book at home, but one of my friends emailed the book to a lot of folks this morning. (I clearly remember seeing something that said not to share. Hmmm, does this fall into the unethical category?)
Anywho, I open it, l… Continue

My 2009 Financial Goal

So last year I decided that something should be done with my "car note money" (CNM) once I paid off the loan. I didn't really give it much thought other than to save it. This morning I was going through my usual routine of checking my CU account to see how much money I have left until the 15th when I got this idea. I get paid tomorrow from my PT job, but that money is going into my secondary savings account. My CNM automatically goes into my primary savings account since it was decucted from pay… Continue
